My girlfriend and I visited The Chalet of Canandaigua over Valentine’s weekend. The night we spent exceeded our expectations on every level. The place is beautifully decorated—with a warm rustic vibe that makes you feel like you’ve been transported onto the set of some romantic movie. Innkeepers Pattie and Margaret are clearly passionate about delivering a top-shelf experience for all their guests. From providing insightful restaurant recommendations to discussing the storied history of their B&B, both Pattie and Margaret were extremely helpful, personable and engaging. But like a seasoned waiter or waitress at a Michelin 3-Star Restaurant, they also understand the art of getting out of the way—so that guests can enjoy the peace and solitude of their own space. Although there were a few other guests staying at the Chalet over our weekend, we were made to feel like we had the entire place to ourselves—and Pattie and Margaret went out of their way to attend to our every need. The cabin itself is gorgeous, looking like something in a glossy magazine spread. It’s secluded, yet is a stone’s throw from town and the lake. The rooms are meticulously appointed and extremely clean. The three-course "home-cooked" breakfast you’ll get the next morning is gourmet and delicious. Aside from everything mentioned, what really makes the Chalet of Canandaigua shine are the little details. From the bottled water and wine openers in the room to the fresh baked pie that you get after returning from dinner, the Chalet of Canandaigua will please even the most discriminating guests. If you’re looking for an intimate, private and romantic setting, along with impeccable personalized service – I can’t think of anything better!
