I started bringing my car to Hoselton a few years ago because of the reputation. To be fair, back then the service center was excellent. They respected my time and were honest and upfront.
However...My past few visits have been anything but positive, and I will be taking my car elsewhere from now on. For example, the time for an oil change has literally tripled from 20 minutes to around 60. On my most recent visit I stated up-front that I had a meeting for work and was in a hurry. I asked the service associate to please only do an oil change and was quoted 35 minutes for that task. 45 minutes later I was approached with a “full report” on my car. They went through my entire car checking my brakes, tires, etc. Now, I would not have had a problem with this...had I actually requested it, but I had specifically asked that ONLY an oil change be done. Ultimately, The service advisor stated that my air filter (which I had replaced 1 months prior) was in need of replacement...yeah okay. He seemed quite annoyed when I declined the $30 filter change and stated, AGAIN that I was in a hurry, and that I change my own air filters ($7.47 at Wal-Mart).
While I continued to wait for them to ACTUALLY perform the oil change I noticed another service advisor carrying out a brake pad (that he stated they took off of her car) to a younger female customer and then the whole waiting room cringed as we watched him pressure her to do a complete brake job (pads, rotors, etc.). A similar situation happened to my wife, in which her wiper blade was pulled off and damaged by the mechanic (it was undamaged before she came in). They brought it out to her and showed her the damaged wiper blade and tried to sell her a new one for triple what it costs at an auto parts store.
Anyways... After I hit the 60-minute mark for my wait I walked out to the service desk just in time to find out that they had JUST finished my oil change (that one they quoted at 35 minutes). This, being the third time that my time and property were disrespected, was enough to make it my last visit. In the previous visit, a similar situation occurred where an oil change took 75 minutes, and during the other visit work was performed on my car without my consent.
It’s unfortunate what the service center at Hoselton Nissan has become, but it’s clear to my wife and I that their current direction does not align with either of our needs and values. We will be taking our cars elsewhere from now on.
